Temples and Tigers

Itinerary

Day 1-2 --Depart from home. Fly to Los Angeles and on the Bangkok or Singapore.
Day 3-4--Arrival in KTM where a member of the Earthbound Expeditions staff Doorway in Patanwill meet you and transfer you to the hotel for check in. Since ancient times the Kathmandu valley has been an intermingling point for travelers and merchants from Tibet to the north and India to the south. This ideal location and highly fertile soils have left Kathmandu Valley with a plenitude of both Hindu and Buddhist temples aswell as the spectacular medieval cities of Kathmandu, Patan, and Bhaktapur. We'll take a morning tour of the valley to see the key sites such as the classic Newari (the original inhabitants of the Kathmandu Valley) architecture in the medieval city of Bhaktapur, the Hindu temple complex at Pashupatinath (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), and the Buddhist stupa at Bodhnath. The afternoon is yours to freely explore the many interesting sites in Kathmandu and Patan.
Day 5-8--Trek Departure by chartered Bus/Jeep/Car to Kakani (2073 m.) 29 km north of Kathmandu, commence 4 Nights 5 Days trekking via Shivapuri Hill (2563 m.) - Chisopani (1895 m.) - Nagarkot (1985 m.)
Day 9--Return drive back to Kathmandu (27 km) 1 hrs. drive and rest. Off day at leisure for individual activities in KTM over night at hotel.
Day 10--Drive to Royal Chitwan National Park. We'll spend some time relaxing along the Rapti River and end the day with a cultural show of the Tharu traditional dances.
Day 11--Jungle walk, elephant ride, and Rhino watching in the morning and canoe ride and birdwatching in the afternoon.
Day 12
--Depart Royal Chitwan for morning drive to Kathmandu. Afternoon free to explore Kathmandu.
Day 13--Free day in Kathmandu to relax. Optional trip to Patan Durbar Square and Nepali cultural museum.
Day 14--Final Departure from Kathmandu
Day 15--Arrive Home
